About Darrin T. Mish

I am a tax attorney. My practice is IRS collection, examination and controversy work.

I have been licensed to practice law since October 1993. Before I practiced tax law, I was a public defender. That job teaches you to read the file, find the weak spot in the government’s case, and never assume the other side got it right. Audits are no different.

I am not a CPA. I am a lawyer. When the IRS examines a return, the questions are legal ones as often as they are accounting ones: what the Code requires you to prove, what the examiner is allowed to ask for, and what happens when you and the examiner disagree.
